Last Call? I'll have another

Yep.  I was actually done with these sorts of diaries, but I find the notion of a "last call" kind of cathartic.  As such, lemme lay out some of my favorites.  I will not discuss this further, at least not until sufficient time has passed to make all of this so much history.  Still, there's a few moments in our primary season that I'd like to remember.  It's important to note that some of this stuff happened before the PUMAs went all feral, but the people who pushed this idiocy are the same ones (mostly anyway) who became PUMAs.

Anyway, here we go!

1)  ZOMG Senator Obama flipped Hillary the bird!

Kinda funny, isn't it, how paralax can totally change what's being observed, right?  These morans are still yammering on and on about how Obama flipped off Senator Clinton.

2)  99 Problems and a Bitch Ain't One

You've heard this one, I'm sure.  Supposedly the Obama campaign played this song at one of their rallies, perhaps after a victory.

NOPE.  http://www.blueoregon.com/2008/02/debunk ing-clint.html

3)  The "Whitey" Tape

I'm still waiting for this one.

4)  Obama's not really an American citizen.

Yep.  His birth certificate is like totally fake.  Nevermind having an American mother would, you know, make him a citizen anyway.  Nope.  He's lying.  Him and those filthy Kossacks.

5)  Obama's a Muslim/crypto-Muslim/liberation theology Christian/Evangelical nut/Marxist/crypto-Marxist/Republican.

I'm actually having a hard time keeping up with these.

6)  Obama can't win white voters, unless they "sip lattes."

Well, the caucuses, primaries, and for that matter recent polls would disagree.  Obviously reality in the tank for Obama.

7)  Obama can't win female voters, unless they're black or young.

Apparently African American and younger women are intrinsically less important than other women.  Maybe they just don't know any better.  I'm not sure about that one.  Maybe according to the PUMAs they just aren't parts of the group that the women's liberation movement, those second-wave feminists, were trying to protect.

8)  You can't win the presidency without (insert random-ass hillbilly state here) because nobody has since (insert pre-Cambrian era date here).

Hey, I'm all for contesting every state we possibly can.  I've got kin and friends in most of those "hillbilly" states, as I called them.  They're not bad people, not even in the aggregate.  However, these sorts of statistics are meaningless.  First of all, they assume that you can only win in one of the ways someone else already did.  Secondly, well, these stats only really hold up until they don't.  Besides, Barack Obama doesn't have a problem with "working Whites" (whatever the hell that means).  Appalachia may have a problem with Obama, though.

9)  You Obama supporters are doing (insert childish, angry, or frankly totally common and decent behavior here) and that's not good for Unity!!!one!111!eleven!

Guys and gals, let me assure you that whatever sins I may have committed you have trebled, at least.  If somebody lunges at me with a sharp letter-opener, I'm not going to lose points for not trying to shake his hand.

10)  We're lifelong Democrats!!!

Yep, you were right up until you went completely batshit insane and decided that YOUR hurt feelings are more important than the lives of our soldiers, Iraqi and Afghani civilians, education, women's rights, the budget, stemcell research, energy research, and everything else.

Barack Obama didn't flip off Hillary Clinton.  I, on the other hand, gladly flip off you PUMAs.  My best friend was an ardent supporter of Senator Clinton.  He is still my best friend.  He cares too much about this country, it's people, and it's place in the world to let some motherfucking flamefest on the internet affect his vote.

He's an adult.  My mother's an adult.  With the exception of one person I know in real life, every single Clinton supporter I know is an adult about this.  They're voting for Obama.  Not because they have to, or because I told them to, but because they want to.

It's your vote.  You can vote for Senator Clinton, or Senator McCain.  You can vote for the Easter Bunny if you feel like it.  I respect your right to vote for whomever, and however, you choose.  I also respect (which is not the same thing as "like") Senator Clinton.  She does good work, and I'm glad she's there, fighting for all of us.

Vote however you like.  Just stop telling us about it.  I do not care.  From this point forward if I see anything resembling a PUMA flame I am simply not going to respond to it.  You people have ceased to exist in my world, and I highly doubt that anything you ever do will be significant enough to garner my attention.

Please excuse me.  I, and the 17,999,850 real Clinton supporters from the primaries are off to win the election with the rest of the Democrats.

Toodles!

Hmm not sure if this counts a PUMA diary. It does lack a certain PUMA only purity. However, as the sole arbiter I'll give it to you!
Congrats for posting certainly well within the time frame.

A serious bonus points for covering ground I had forgotten about and was hoping never to remember.

"3)  The "Whitey" Tape

Hey, I am counting the days!!!

I'm trying to book the world premier RIGHT HERE in Seattle.

I'm thinking the Chop Suey Night Clube (I live about block away) and we book a death metal opening act, and some poltical hip-hop DJ to back up Larry and Susan, and then Larry comes out, and JUST SHREDS IT to the Whitey Tape!!!

Man, that will KICK-ASS BIG TIME!

Re: Last Call? I'll have another (2.00 / 2)

Since we've come to the end of an era I'll give you mojo on this.

After reading about so many negatives about Obama I've decided that he has to pass my own personality test in order to win my vote.  If he buys me a Coke I'll vote for him.  If he weasels out by asking for Pepsi - or even accepting Pepsi as a substitute, I'll have to turn my back on this candidate, the party, and all of my own ideals.

Believe it or not, there's a diary on Alegre's rec list that makes that argument explicitly.  It's absolutely horrific.

Go check it out!  It's called "black women and feminism" or something.

Re: Last Call? I'll have another (none / 0)

On the mirror image of that, I saw a running debate on a salon forum, with a young black feminist taking on the older first and second generation feminists, one the question being asked by her was "did the first generation feminists focus mostly on the feminist issue of white and generally upper class white women.."

It was facinating to watch, it split the Clinton older supporters right down the middle with the younger women supporting Obama.

And, yes, there were some amazing statements from the older women, like they were just hoping that McCain would help to overturn Roe, because these younger women were such ingrates for turning their back on Hillary and "deserved to have their reproductive rights stripped."

Scary.

Re: Last Call? I'll have another (2.00 / 1)

Yes, I've seen that argument take place elsewhere.  Thank God my Mom's not like that.  She wasn't thrilled with how the primaries went down, but first off she backed Edwards in the primary, and secondly she's more than happy with Obama.

But she wasn't, as I said, thrilled with some aspects of the primary.  There was some measure of sexism.

Re: Last Call? I'll have another (none / 0)

"There was some measure of sexism."

Plenty of it, all across the media.

Tweety was just abohorant, not sure he shouldn't have been suspended for the "Senator Clinton won by people feeling sorry for her for Monica' comment. That was an incredibly low shot.

Still, I disagree it cost Senator Clinton the nom, I still think you take Mark Penn out of the equation, and let her run the campaign from the start they way she did at the end, and it MAY have turned out different.

But, no doubt there was plenty of ugly sexism and mysogny in the press....

Oh yeah - Coyote Creek, a former regular here who slithered off to Alegre's corner makes that argument constantly.  Didn't vote for Hillary?  You deserve to bleed to death from a perforated uterus.

Re: Last Call? I'll have another (none / 0)

I think the PUMAs are really making you guys nervous.

Favorite quote of the day, from Rasmussen:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracting 42% of the vote while John McCain earns 41%. That's the lowest level of support measured for Obama since he clinched the Democratic Presidential nomination on June 3. Obama's support peaked at 48% with data released on June 8, 9, and 10. During that same time frame, McCain's support has remained steady in the 40% to 42% range (he's had just one day a point below that range and two days a point above it).

When "leaners" are included, it's Obama 46% and McCain 45%. With leaners, Obama reached 50% support in mid-June and was at 48% or 49% every day from June 13 until July 10. Since then, he has reached the 48% level just once while polling consistently at 46% or 47% (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

McCain is viewed favorably by 57% of voters, Obama by 53%. McCain is currently supported by 86% of Republicans and holds a modest-four percentage point--lead among unaffiliated voters. Obama earns the vote from 77% of Democrats

Why is this race so close?  An incompetent President and a failed war, and your guy is neck and neck with a doddering mediocrity.

(Of course Rasmussen on 7/15 said Clinton would run much better)

Oh, there are many things wrong with the diarist's presentation, but having a parent who is a citizen does not automatically confer citizenship.

And you guys better start reading the new analyses on the forged Certificates of Live Birth.  http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/07/21/ forensics-expert-obama-birth-certificate -is-a-forgery/

Hilarious!

You nut-cases really believe this drivel!

I can't decide if you guys are more pathetic then crazy, but, you sure are the funniest and lamest group I have seen since the Freepers in the classic Monica war days.

So, tell me, is the Whitey Tape going to hit BEFORE OR AFTER BirthCertificateGate?

Obama is up between six and nine points.  That is not close.

And, for the millionth time, you have a better chance of having sex with Santa Claus than disproving Obama's citizenship.

Yeah, and I am STILL waiting for the drugs to wear off the people that saw Obama flip off Hillary due to a camera angle.

What, we had like 20-30 diaries here on that subject?

Apologies need to flow like water, but we will ALL be getting mighty thirsty waiting for them here on MyDD.
